I think this is the same thing that’s been kicking around for ages that started off with you having to submit your personal documents to access porn sites? Sounds like it’s snowballed into an attack on the UK’s internet as a whole. My SiL is a barrister and seems pretty concerned about it all.

Yeah, that’s the one - and aspects of it have always been part of the bill - especially the bit where the Government ask the industry to rewrite the laws of mathematics such that it’s possible to securely encrypt communications while adding a backdoor so the government can poke around in them. Utterly maddening that’s still a concept the government think is in any way safe when our entire financial infrastructure relies on encryption.
Couldn’t really see much in the way of what actions people could take. From the comments I saw it seems like it’s at a point where writing to an MP about it is largely pointless as it’s already in the Lords
