Why is Hadley Freeman like this

Trying to work out why she’s mentioned her age here, and can only surmise because it’s particularly awful to her that a 52 year old should be replaced by an 18 year old.

and @anon26275971

I’d never read much of her stuff but I figure from a quick google she’s one of these centrist pundits, similar to Hyde, Freedland, Chait, Cohen, etc, people who were maybe edgy for the 1990s/early-00s New Labour/Clinton era but in a post-Iraq/post-recession/Trump world their arses have fallen out and they’re realizing they don’t have “it” anymore, and instead of trying to learn and grow they’re kind of doubling down on the bad takes and reactionary centrism.

Shivers me timbres these people are paid lots of money to be very publicly stupid tho, that coin only encourages them to think they’re the perfectly reasonable moderates the discourse is crying out for.

This was a glorious hour of television, Stephen Kinnock is such a twat.

Was he serious when he was blaming his mother for Neil Kinnock falling over that time?

Lots of hilariously bad takes at the moment from UK politicians/political pundits over the political situation in Germany.

“Corbyn wants to nationalise the railways, how do we entirely respond to the valid criticisms of trains being expensive?”

I missed it last night, but a lot of the online commentary makes me want to see it now.

The routemaster absolutely did me.

tbf this isn’t one of their worst ideas.

it’s not and it will save me a couple of hundred quid or more so i’m not complaining… but how many corbyn supporters will switch to the tories? that’s what they really want

Yeah I’ve stopped attempting to make predictions but I feel pretty secure in guessing that the polls aren’t going to swing wildly off the back of this railcard bung.

gonna be very interesting to see what other little bits and pieces turn up in the budget

If the 26-30 Railcard is the thing that’s been briefed as a BUDGET TEASER then you’re going to be very disappointed.

Digs out Ed Miliband’s manifesto Tough on immigration mugs for all?

For me it was the bollocking he got from his wife at the count.

“Why are you doing this?!”
“Erm… don’t know”

Also loved his weird marionette walk and, as others have mentioned, the fact that he thought it was a good idea to revise history by implying that he thought his own mother was a vain, materialistic twat.
