- I prefer a hard floor
- I prefer a carpet
Please discuss below how specific rooms and venues need different floors, how hard floor may mean wood but may mean tiles, how mashed potato does not need butter etc.

Hard floor downstairs, carpet upstairs
got a hard floor but does feel more homely when i visit someone posh with a carpet
hard floor with rugs plz. can’t stand carpets.
Hard floor in the streets, carpet in the sheets
This country is not equipped for hard floor sadly. Too cold 99% of the time. Also too much hard flooring is that horrible plasticy ‘‘wood’’ isn’t it, especially in new builds.
Slight preference for hard floors but only if there are NO GOD DAMN RUGS
bet some of you have carpeted bathrooms.
Hardfloor never dies
My bathroom currently has concrete only due a flood last Winter, no tiles even, it’s not bad tbh (will be cold soon).
Pcbe
Carpet is cosier and muffles sound better, but I just can’t get past the fact that it’s impossible to clean properly
Ironic that carpet includes the word pet because they do not mix
I grew up in a house with carpeted bathrooms (they were like that when we moved in and my parents didn’t replace them until they had the bathrooms redone 20 years later). Such a gross idea
The problem with hardwood floors is that rugs are a trip hazard
They do mix in some ways. Dogs slide on tiles and hard flooring. Easier for them to walk on carpet. But I take your point that dirt + fur + challenges of cleaning carpets is generally bad.
My childhood cat thought that pets and carpets went very well because she could use the stairs to sharpen her claws
depends
Nice.
