Please god.

Relegate all of the premier league at the end of the season, promote 20 teams from the championship. The new premier league teams get a boost from more money/tv exposure, the new championship gets more interest due to bigger clubs being in it. Probably the best move to freshen everything up.

any sightings of liverpool fans/ex-players prematurely celebrating winning the champions league yet?

Thought we were trying to move on from the tribalism on here chief

Everyone gets upset when I do it

I do like this kind of humour.

One of my “jokes” was compared to you yesterday. I’ll take that.

Every city fan I know says that their time in the 3rd tier was brilliant.

I was being nice

8 years ago yesterday, we were nearly relegated to League One while in administration and days from liquidation, but drew at Sheffield Wednesday to stay up at their expense.

As we didn’t own our ground and have any assets, we may have gone out of business. Now we are heading into our sixth season on the top flight. But if we got relegated I’d probably enjoy the Championship more.

Reckon when the money runs out in a decade or so city will be relegated from the European squid league back down to the premiership

Sacking off united and going to watch F.C. United was amazing. 1000 people going to weird little grounds all pissed.

Winning regularly is definitely more fun, and we play better football than we’ll be able to if we go up. Obviously the weeks when you beat one of the big teams are great, and being on match of the day instead of channel 5 is better, but I don’t think any true fan of a championship team would be heartbroken playing an extra season in it instead of the prem

I agree with all of that. As our playoff spot is secure, I’m wholly indifferent about promotion, especially so as Pulis will keep his job

Just getting some kik insurance in for this weekend

I mean, you have a point about winning… and scoring goals more etc. Its more fun.
Not sure what the gulf is between the top of the championship and the bottom half of the prem though.
you and wolves could easily mix it with the likes of Huddersfield, injury riddled palace, brighton, whatever regen version of Watford next year. :man_shrugging:
But then Newcastle seemingly walked the league last year and kind of struggled with virtually the same team

We’ve just got an incredibly thin squad. As we are now we’d probably finish 12th or so. Take an injury to mitro, Cairney or kalas and we’d go down

Doesn’t appear that way

Every season has been a really slow start a struggle before a good finish and finishing around 11th - 15th. Apart from Pardew when we were 4th at Christmas and just stayed up.

I’m hoping if Roy stays on and doesn’t retire we could a very good season next year, our team on paper when fully fit is very good. Obviously Wilf would need to stay too.
