Do you have a preference as to the topside or the underside of a French stick? I’d sure like to hear about it if you do.
I find the topside (the upper crust if you will!) too dry and crusty. I like the soft yet still a bit crunchy texture of the underside, also that’s where all the butter drips end up. Hope this helps.

Yeah, this is what I tend to do. I cut it in half (horizontally) and then i leave the underside till last as its my breadside preference

assumed this was just on bad English imitations of a french loaf because they come out of a factory machine sort of like lego pieces. Not authentic
