remember when Mogwai literally made t-shirts calling Blur shit and Damon Albarn reacted by…not reacting at all. Corgan just has a chip on his shoulder

That was there choice, why is it wrong for someone to not want to put up with it

Because who cares

Deep down blur knew mogwai were right

Think even IF it was unintentional, it would have been obvious it could be perceived as a dis, so at best they deliberately set out to dis at worse they didn’t care enough to think how it could come across, either way it was bad on pavements part. Who says it had no effect, if I was Corgan I’d be affected by these indie darlings taking a pop at me, and feel weird about having to go on the road with them, might throw me off my game. And now years later it is still used to put him down

That’s not really an actual effect though

‘Intent doesn’t matter’ is fair in terms of racism/sexism etc but I’m not sure it applies to whether or not an indie band slagged off a rockstar

Imagine though, just imagine if the reason why they are criminally underrated and not held in such high esteem as the greatest artists and bands is nothing to do with perceived cool and media conspiracies.

Imagine if the reason they’re so underrated is more to do with a) having made two amazing albums in the 90s and being diminishing returns ever since and b) having a singer with a massively acquired taste voice capable of grating horribly with all but the mega fans?

Just a thought.

I think the intent thing is always relevant because otherwise people could go around being malicious and then claim they didn’t mean it, just because someone says they didn’t mean it doesn’t mean they are being honest, that’s why I’d go with what the person on the receiving end thinks. Ultimately it was not a big deal, but neither was kicking pavement off, of blur had done the same to mogwai that would be completely understandable, lesson learned don’t insult the headline band you want to tour with

I can’t imagine it

But enough about Radiohead.

I obviously have lots to catch up on today. Bad day for a brutal carpal tunnel flare up, but I’ll try to respond to some individual points later today.

I need to move to the UK.

The insults I got for my zero T-shirt in 1997 was definitely about perceived cool, it was like I was wearing a terrorvision T-shirt or something

This is a great post.

Disagree that that’s not a big deal or that they’re any way equivalent. Blimey.

If I ever headline a festival I’m getting so many people kicked out

The only reason you think that about radiohead is because of a George Soros/illuminati conspiracy. They’re objectively geniuses and everything they do is amazing.

What about the voice of Billy Corgan
How did it get so acquired taste
I wonder if he talks like an ordinary guy

I don’t know him bc he got us kicked off of the Lollapalooza bill
