Anoher reissue
Finally re-issuing the good albums!
A good time for a reminder about how good Siva is on the latest Mellon Collie reissue.
Billy, please reach out via DM. I crave your Advice and Wisdom
“spiritual debut” makes it sound like there was an actual debut that got deleted or something.
Can’t believe it’s been over a quarter of a century since Machina came out. I’d still take it over any album released by anyone since.
Imagine writing a song this perfect.
oh billy you daft old fool
bit rich for someone who said in every interview in 1997 that ‘rock is dead’. weird to complain that rock music doesnt have a big voice or is a big force anymore, dont really see him using his voice to speak out about anything important at the moment except for MTV deciding to play more hip hop
I hate this guy. Just release digital Machina you fool!!!
Never, ever have I meant this more, but
Ok boomer
Personally I’m thankful he doesn’t speak up more because I strongly suspect it would make me really not like him
He was banging on about “beta males” in his Substack not too long ago, I don’t want to know his views on much else apart from music. Apart from that he measures success predominantly by how many records bands have sold, so many bands bothering to speak up in the last few years that aren’t megahuge he’s totally ignoring. I don’t think he makes much effort at all to listen to current music
Billy Corgan really ruined The Smashing Pumpkins, sick of him
I’m going to see D’Arcy Wretzky’s Smashing Pumpkins soon. Much better.
My view on Corgan is you can’t separate the good from the bad, it is his same desperate need for approval and recognition that makes him say stupid stuff like this as make Mellon collie and the infinite sadness, I’d prefer he do the later but guess he has run out so now is being the Mellon collie and the infinite sadness of being a whiney old white guy
Also like the idea of him being right, and it being his fault. When pumpkins were briefly the biggest band of their era MTV execs being like yeah this guy is not cool, maybe time to promote other genres. It’s like when Homer Simpson became head of the stonecutters
“Am I so out of touch? No, it’s definitely our key demographic who are wrong.”
It’s annoying as it was overdue if anything, his pal David Bowie chastised MTV for sidelining hip hop and that was the 80s, when they finally do billy thinks it’s unfair. Also curious as the why he thinks the CIA wanted to undermine rock music, hardly the most radical art form in the 90s, I’m more inclined to think the cia killed Tupac
Is it the CIA making him churn out utter shite constantly this decade
Who was pulling the strings for the previous two decades?
What an aside:
Late in that episode, after he and Flynn discussed which musicians were shapeshifters, Corgan theorized about rock music’s decline in mainstream popularity

Feeling compelled once again to say that Aghori Mhori Mei is one of the best albums of the decade.
