Wonder why James isn’t signing them

  • he is secretly out of the band
  • conscientious objector
  • Billy doesn’t want to split the $$$

Love that I spent my Saturday night hitting refresh on a Billy Corgan hate website that was commenting in real time on a livestream of a crowd of people watching Billy Corgan listen to an album he wrote, this is why technology exists.

Wish he’d pull a Pearl Jam or even a Neil Young. I’m completely incapable of spending money on myself, but if he opened up the archives with a model like this there’s no way I wouldn’t be able to talk myself out of subscribing. Live Pumpkins is the best thing in the world.

I asked him about the NY archives model and he seemed to think it was a terrible idea from his answer…who is going to pay 170 dollars for a shitting live record?!

Yeah, I don’t understand why he’d think that would be a bad idea, if there ever was a band perfectly suited to a model like that it’s them. He’d make way more putting everything online at a reasonable price and generate so much goodwill too. Seems like it would be a great opportunity to show people a largely unknown side of the band on a large scale too.

As with everything, he waited too long. Archives should have been ready for the reunion tour instead of a tepid 8 track “album”. Machina reissue originally slated for 2013, apparently done but nowhere to be seen. His fanbase has shrunk to a few thousand diehards and therefore he has to grasp at the remining few. An NY archive may have worked earlier on (or continued from the first breakup to ensure pumpkins music still being shared)

Still not sure why a 1992 soundboard from Japan is the flagship archive release - especially since he has previously spoken about doing a pregish boxset

Signed ones sold out. Cant believe people are paying an extra $100 for half the bands’ signatures… Bonkers

Here’s the twist. Billy fell out with the band after selling and signing one copy

:man_facepalming:t2: doesn’t bode well for the price of a Machina reissue. Based on these prices it will be 300 dollars at least

It’ll just make the thread title more apt

Going to stay on brand and say we’d have the entire archives for free if the media had properly appreciated / recognized what he did with Machina II. Ahead of its time and still one of the coolest things anyone has ever done for fans.

Yeah, giving the only physical copy of your secret final album to 25 superfans and distributing it online for free in the year 2000 is out of touch, Billy should have partnered with Starbucks instead.

not really bothered about the price gouging, hardly an essential release, more for the super fans not a casual fan like me. Don’t think they have ever done a release of a normal album where there wasn’t a standard edition. Machina, i’m sure they will do some ridiculous uber boxset type thing, which i’d be tempted by, but am sure there will be a basic one will still have loads on it. Just hope he hasn’t seen the mars volta release and got ideas

Non fungible corgans you say?

$100000 and its urs

Any idea what’s going on here? Ghessing its just the same one that was release a few years ago. Presumed they were still readily available

maybe they found some in the warehouse and theyve redacted the bitter liner notes not james is back in the band.

The european pressing is supposed to be decent, I have the american one which is terrible

Their Twitter handle being a letter short amuses me greatly.

He got lucky scoring @Billy - guess you can’t win ‘em all.
