I remember in 1996 when RATM released their second album, Tommy Cherries, when asked about his lack of solos on the album, came straight out and said it… solos were done. no need for them any more. it doesn’t take a calendar enthusiast to see the link here from 1994’s Black Hole Sun, 1995’s Zero to this in 1996

Incorrect. For example, it’s been mentioned that one of the qualities that made Nirvana great was that Cobain had an ideal rock voice. Westerberg had similar charisma in his delivery, but with more warmth and versatility.

Husker Du, meanwhile, beat even the Pixies for prolific, high quality output, although without quite reaching the same heights as Sr/Doolittle.
