The Snuts

Does being number 1 really matter this much?

Those t’s look annoyingly like b’s

Nothing wrong with this though, people have campaigned to be top of the charts for ages and it might not mean a lot but its a nice accolade to have

I would understand if they were a new band but I’m pretty sure they’ve had a number 1 album already. Just be grateful that there’s people out there prepared to spend money on your record. Whether it’s 5 people or 5,000.

I like the way the Snrubs think!

You’re absolutely right, it’s a great accolade to have. The current charts are so skewed due to streaming, artists have to pull all these levers to get a chart position on week 1, otherwise it’s literally just Taylor and Ed Sheeran in the top 10. Week 1 figures are mainly pre-orders, which is why you see artists smashing a top 5 and then dropping out of the 100 on week 2.

Ironically, getting a 1 will also help them out as DSPs will then add them to editorial playlists again, bumping their streaming figures, and Radio 1 will bump them up to the A-list (they’re on the B at the moment).

I’m no fan of The Snuts, but you can’t knock them for this kind of stuff.

They’d also prefer to not get dropped by their label, I imagine.

Look at New Dad - signed a deal with Atlantic, charted at #70 week 1. Can’t imagine they’ll pick up album 2.

Charting at #70 is a bit different to challenging for number 1 though.
