“Fire Velveteen Dream” oh wait that’s not so bad

There seems to be no control over the images that get put up, but to sign up as a ‘spectator’ you have to agree to loads of terms and conditions re. not drinking alcohol on screen, visible adverts or logos etc.

They can kick you off it, but I guess it’s the logistics of moderating hundreds of live streams at once that’s the problem

What is wrong with people, seriously? I just can’t imagine

wrestling fans :man_shrugging:

And even then, by the time you need moderate something, it’s too late, you’ve already broadcast it worldwide.

Seems someone also set their screen to show a genuine execution

It’s doable though. Hire ten guys, fuck hire a hundred. It’s wwe, they just posted their biggest profits ever. They could hire an entire call centre of moderators. They could probably get wrestling fans to do it for them!

Oh they can, probably will. But like someone said earlier by the time they need to, they’ve already done it

I still would’ve chosen Kenny or Cody frankly, Kenny for being part of the best match of 2020 thus far in the tag match at Revolution as well as his matches with PAC, Moxley and Jericho. Or Cody for the best match of last year against Dustin but then all the MJF stuff and a myriad TV matches in between. Would even have thrown Jericho into the mix even for the inaugural title reign if nothing else, it was better than anyone expected.
But Moxley’s had a great little run in Japan in addition to AEW so I can see why the PWI fans favoured him.

Pretty much a new poster in here, but out of sheer boredom, I’ve stuck AEW on. Never watched it before, so I Suppose I have a couple of questions. Dynamite is normally a Wednesday night show right? Have seen a lot about it, but is it worth getting into (I don’t really watch wrestling atm)?

Ooft what a question to ask, depending on what you like it might be the worst or best thing you’ve ever seen but I think give it a few episodes. It’s a mix of indie, Japanese and some nods to NWA style wrestling and it’s got some very silly and very serious stuff to different degrees. It’s about a million times more organic than wwe and it shows.
I love it, I find it genuinely exciting, but lots of people don’t.

It is worth watching yeah, there is still some absolute bollocks because it’s wrestling in 2020 but there is generally guaranteed to be at least one good match every week which you don’t get from wwe and some of the character work from the likes of MJF, Chris Jericho, Cody, Hangman Page etc is excellent.
And the midcarders like Lance Archer, Brodie Lee, Luchasaurus, Fenix, Pentagon Jr etc are all entertaining in their own right.
They are relatively poor at giving time to their women’s division but I am hopeful they will bulk out their women’s roster over the coming weeks and months after bringing in some short termers who were solid for a tag tournament that ended last week.
The tag division is both fucking excellent in terms of matches but also feels a bit pedestrian in terms of outcomes to me. There is a quite clear hierarchy to it that makes some of it a bit predictable.
Jon Moxley is quite a good champion but also hasn’t really done much of what I would consider must watch tv since he became champ so not sure I can get behind him being PWI no 1.

This is it I think. Obviously very familiar with WWE, so this is good to hear. Tbf, I’ve been quite happily watching live baseball, so I’ll probably be good with this. Cheers Ruffers and @Jarvis.

I enjoyed aew a lot. But unfortunately havent watched for months due to covid.

Same for all wrestling tbf outside of the odd curuosity

AEW desperately needs to improve its diversity post covid though. It is very much a white man product

Yeah a thousand times this. There was a lot of talk of a more diverse and representative lineup of talent when they first came to the table but they have really failed to deliver on that so far. The talent is out there and available but AEW don’t seem that interested in actually signing them up and building them into stars (although I would say they need to improve on building stars in general too)

I definitely think it’s worth giving a go even though I have my reservations about it, I personally don’t find it as good enough of an alternative to WWE as I’d like, but it’s at least refreshing to watch something trying something a bit different and like @Ruffers says mix a variety of wrestling styles as opposed to the blindly Vince way of doing things WWE almost completely sticks to. My main problem is that I’m not really that invested in it and find myself more likely to watch NXT (WWE’s more indie equivalent) or New Japan because it’s the best, but AEW is a nice middle ground at least and they’re still young and trying shit out so will give them that.
