I bloody love it. If you are going to give it a go I’d recommend trying to get into Being the Elite (the Young Bucks’ YouTube series which is essentially a sketch show but features half the roster doing bits) and keeping an eye on their YouTube for their ‘Road to…’ bits. They have a terrible habit of burying promos and interviews that give context to matches and spots all over the place. They’re supposed to have a second TV show at some point which will hopefully solve this problem but at the minute there are bits on Dynamite that must seem mystifying to the casual viewer. When Excalibur is on commentary he will at least try to clue you in - none of the rest seem entirely sure what’s going on themselves half the time.

I think I would have gone with Jericho for number 1, I know he’s number 3, but I felt his title run was more interesting and the things he has done afterwards. Obviously, the Covid world hasn’t helped Moxley whilst being champ.

He definitely did more with less, his feud with Cody and Mox were excellent at points, especially the glass door breaking angle in the Autumn and Mox’s spike to the eye - such good old fashioned wrestling angles. And there’s no doubt even with his physical limitations he’s more than lived up to the job of being first champ. The way he made relative unknowns like Scorpio Sky and Jungle Boy seemed like legitimate contenders really helped cement AEW as its own thing and built on organic fan reception which is something WWE so often fail to do, or actively rail against. He did a great job, and if the Stadium Stampede is your thing then he had an incredible year. Versatility on the commentary table too, and in his tag matches with Sammy, He’s just a babystep behind Cody and Kenny in my opinion, but I’d have put him above Mox (or any wwe talent) for sure.
On reflection think my top 5 would be Cody, Kenny, Jericho, Adam Cole, Moxley.

Cody definitely has been great too, I like his open challenge and he’s been a highlight of Dynamite ever since it started. I think next year will be Kenny’s year if he goes full on cleaner again and concentrates on being solo.
I must say, I really am starting to dig Adam Page now. Since his drinking gimmick and moving away from The Elite, he could be a dark horse for next year.

Just saw that with Moxley being Number 1, that means that all of the Shield have now been number 1. That’s really impressive

He should certainly be the face when he and Kenny finally implode, and after that he should dethrone MJF. That’s the path to making the ‘next Stone Cold’ imho

I’m intrigued to see what Page does once he splits with Kenny. It looks like he’s part of the Four Horsemen revival thing they’ve been teasing for ages with FTR and…someone else (please don’t be Spears). But I’d kinda like to see him lone wolf it for a bit. Big fan of his anyway - wasn’t all that impressed at first but ‘anxious millennial cowboy’ is one of the more unexpectedly successful angles I’ve ever seen.

I hope you are right and it feels it’s going that way with how Kenny does little things recently. Page is definitely a tweener with his character

Absolutely, he’s been in a group since he arrived and does indeed need to be on his own to show off what he’s capable of.

Spears in the new four horseman doesn’t make sense if Cody is in it too, considering what their kayfabe relationship is like. I love Spears’ look, but his wrestling for some reason I’ve not got into

Gonna be honest though if FTR genuinely fool him he’s going to lose a lot of his momentum for looking dumb as fuck, hopefully it’ll be a sweeeerve and Kenny’s the one who lets the side down and then snaps or something

Yeah Cody was hinting at being part of too wasn’t he? If Spears is out then I’ve no idea what he’s going to do. Being with Tully is like his whole thing. But if you asked anyone to make a stable of killers from the AEW roster nobody would be putting Spears in there.

Page awkwardly joining a group of heels in his quest for belonging fits his character well tbf but @ruffers’ plan is the one I’d rather see.

other than MJF, (and to an extent, Orange Cassidy) Adam Page has easily been the best thing about that product this year

Spears is so shite

Meltz overhypes them but think the Bucks have been a great addition this year, their style is their own but yeah think the tag match in Feb is MOTY so far and they’ve had a lot of great matches.
MJF, Page, and Cody have been my highlights of 2020. Think the future’s bright for FTR and Brodie if they keep the momentum. Where’s Zack Ryder gone too?

Spears is Randy Orton with less self awareness. He had a good angle but he’s in the right position tbh, jobber to the stars.

Yeah they’ve definitely got potential with FTR and Brodie there for sure

Spears will be a decent heat magnet if people don’t want him in there though so chuck him in I say. I don’t know why but I liked “The Chairman” gimmick anyway. think Cody’s got a different heel turn story to tell besides.

Road Dogg’s family right there the Armstrongs

Oh they’ve paired the groß hund with Heyman. That, err, might actually work?
