Well, it’s a couple of weeks later than I intended but fuck it this still covers a decent amount of stuff.
Obviously, the big draw for us residing in the UK is the massive AEW show ALL IN at Wembley Stadium next month (and the RevPro show running alongside it which may have some crossover) nothing is confirmed yet of course but it does promise to be a fully-fledged PPV with the big rumour of course being Ospreay vs Omega III, and hopefully the return of Jamie Hayter but massive sad face at likely no Bryan Danielson (in an in-ring role at least).
Meanwhile The Fed fresh off their London exploits have a pretty major stadium show themselves coming up next month, as they hit the 80k Ford Field arena in Detroit for the first time since Wrestlemania 23. Again no matches confirmed yet but a lot of seemingly apparent ones from recent booking such as the blow-off to Cody vs Lesnar, Drew vs WALTER and of course Main Event Jey Uso potentially finally ending Roman Reigns and The Bloodline’s reign of terror.
Over in Japan it is of course time for their summer classic, the G1 Climax tournament. It’s their biggest tournament ever!!! Which basically means feeding a load of young lions to current IWGP Champ Sanada for a safe passage to the semi-finals. Still, always promises bangers and with Eddie Kingston in there this year it should be a treat as ever!
Happy Summer Graps fans!

FTR vs Bullet Club Gold was very good, Punk vs Joe was… a bit old and slow and knackered but worked well enough and they did a decent job of explaining their history at least

Put this in the sports section by accident I think
This is where it belongs we are taking over

Not sure Kevin Kelly’s working tbh. Show needs someone a bit more dynamic and hip who sounds a bit less like a kindly uncle. Give Mauro a call, Tony.
I think he’s great personally, especially for Forbidden Door as he actually gave some context to the Japanese talent

Maintain that their period is the most underrated comedy in wrestling

Any chance at all that Jey beats Roman at Summerslam do we reckon?
I mean, I would love it, it would actually be a perfect end to the storyline that began essentially with Roman elevating Jey to main event level only to humiliate him into line and his control, and would make Cody losing at Mania make sense, I guess I would just worry about what happens after you pull the trigger on a first time champion and if they have the nerve to finally do it. But given how well orchestrated this entire arc has been, and the latter half of the year is traditionally a bit of a down period for WWE anyway, I think there’s a decent chance

I would also hope if they do pull the trigger on Jey that they give Roman a few months off, both to give Jey the space to establish himself as a first time champion but also just to give both the character of Reigns and the person Joe some time off screen. I know he hardly has the most demanding schedule but given he’s dominated screen time for three years and his personal health concerns it would be good to have a chance to have a refresh.
I really really hope too if they still want to do something with The Rock it’s at Mania with Reigns with nothing to do with any titles and not anything to do with Jey at Summerslam

So obviously what we’ll actually get is Lesnar again

Be a big shame (ie totally what’ll happen) if they give it to Jey for a month or something. Reckon the belt is going back on Randy Orton if and when he’s back, probably win the rumble or something. Rock and Reigns v Rikishi and Solo at Wrestlemania.

Wouldn’t be able to continue doing the same segment every week that way, so nope

Still not a fan of this 4 block G1 set up but I’m excited anyways. The refresh NJPW is currently undergoing is has been great - Bullet Club are actually interesting for the first time in ages (even if Finlay is still giving off the-Roman-Reigns-we-have-at-home vibes), the former Young Lions are all busy finding themselves which is fun to watch, Yota Tsuji looks like a star already, ZSJ as TV champ and faction leader suits him perfectly (I’d still like to see him win the big one but that’s probably never going to happen), Just 5 Guys shouldn’t work but somehow do (YOU. ALREADY. DIE!), grumpy midcard Okada is weirdly compelling…if they can just figure out what to do with House of Torture it could be a very fun era ahead.
Kingston living his dream is gonna be heartwarming too, though I’ve not got high expectations for the actual matches.

Tbh first time champions are always a bit shit, the chase is always more fun, it’s more about confirming Jey on that level.
I hope not regarding Randall but aren’t we getting tantalisingly/worringly (delete as appropriate) to him vs Cena for Flair’s “record”? Mind you hopefully(?) They just save that for Charlotte.
I’m mostly intrigued by where the hell they are going with Cody more than anything else, if he doesn’t win the Lesnar feud then he’s fucked, if he does he’s hardly going to be challenging babyface champ Jey. If its Seth for the fucking made up world title belt it will feel… cheap?

Think Cody just treads water until Seth drops that belt to maybe Damian Priest and then gets it.
