To be fair, it’s a really awkward train (one of the old fashioned Greater Anglia ones that have no real space in the doorway area to stow a fold-up). But still, it was like an obstacle course!

As one of those wankers that (very occasionally) has to take a full size bike on a train, the bromptons scattered willy nilly throughout the vestibule does me nut in.

Muskoka. Beaches, lakes and everything else you’d need.

Me too! So tempted to not come back…

Were going to hit up Quebec I think.

More information needed!

Thanks!

Handbags on my street this morning.

It’s a bit of a rat run and there is only room for single-file traffic between the rows of parked cars. My across-the-road neighbour’s transit van and a Smart car going in opposite directions met outside my house and both refused to back up. After trading insults, squaring up and shouting invented bits of Highway Code at each other, they both got back into their vehicles and sat there for about 20 minutes while the traffic piled up behind them.

Not sure what broke the deadlock, but the guy in the Smart car eventually backed-up while leaning out of his window shouting, while my neighbour literally did the ‘come on then you slag’ stance in the middle of the street.

At first it was funny, but it got a bit scary by the end because they were so pumped-up.

Never heard it called that before.

When I used to get the train into London from Colchester, the big Greater Anglia express trains from Norwich used to have space in the guard’s carriage for over 20 full size bikes, including straps to hold them against the wall. It was really easy.

On the more modern trains that only have vestibules (good word btw) it’s really tricky and there’s only really room for one full-size bike per carriage, which is a real shame.

Halcyon days. Remember on a family holiday as a child when we all took our full size bikes from Peterborough to Newcastle on the train. Got to hang out in the guards van for most of the journey. Was great fun.

It’s really daft that there’s no space on a commuter train for a reasonable number of bikes. Means that I have to have a bike each end of the journey.

Mind you, we are getting 8-carriage trains from … autumn 2020! (Only 13 years after I started commuting)

Got up and went to the hotel gym, now smashed a big breakfast, sun is shining - all good right? Already dreaming of being home but got a 15 hour day ahead. Might try to work through work and get as early a train as I can.

Morning all!

I’ve got no big plans for the weekend. Perhaps I should make some. I need to go record shopping at some point, but other than that :man_shrugging:

I’m on daddy duty tomorrow during the day - I think I might take James for a fry up. Is that good parenting or laziness on my part?

Morning all. Finished work at four today and then I get to go to the bank! WHEEEE

Need to buy a new hat as well and might go to a gig later.

This guy on the bus…
