Yeah I was considering heading down to Dublin to see them for a second time this year but couldn’t be bothered to travel a couple of hours for an almost identical setlist.

Oh when did they change drummer? Weird they’d choose someone that lives so separately from them, you’d think they’d have their pick of uk based drummers

Going to Brudenell too. Torn between wanting them to mix it up a bit but then really like It Won’t Be Like This… so could happily hear it played in full (which is pretty much what we got in Manc last time).

Primavera 2018 was his live debut with them. Subsequently they’ve basically played the same songs from the back catalogue with the addition of most of the new album since it’s release in Jan.

Feel lucky to have heard DH live now

Thought ‘It Won’t Be Like This…’ was a slight disappointment at the time but as the weather has turned grey I’m finding myself listening to it multiple times per day and really really loving it.

i’d hoped they might get Grant Hutchison in but might have been a bit soon for him

drummer from Errors used to fill in for Mogwai sometimes too and was always great

I think that was Northumbria Uni, I was at that gig too!

Think the Newcastle SU is on that campus downstairs in the union. I work from here so tried going and finding the venue at lunch but couldn’t see it haha. Regardless, excited to hear the new songs live! Hope you enjoy them in London too even if it isn’t ideal

Right you are about the venue!

You work at Newcastle Uni? (I did too) I actually really like the NUSU venue. Yeah it’s at the very bottom of those stairs round the back of the union building. It has one of the best (if not the best) sound systems in the city IMO, and the ceiling is low which helps it feel a bit cosier/closer. I could go on… it feels a bit wrong to gush about a university venue but even though its aesthetic is bland, the design is good I think it’s a great example of how to do one of those venues right.

Sorry if I’ve bigged it up and you think it’s shite!

Haha, don’t worry, honestly made me excited now as was worried about the sound issues because of the Uni setting!

I am a PhD student here, so just had a quick gander as I picked up some coffee for the afternoon.

Yes to James from Errors! Some drummer.

Reports on Newcastle, please. Be interesting to see what size crowd they draw.

they seem to have amassed a small army of obsessive fans in a facebook group who follow them around on tour these days. their enthusiasm made the Belfast show really good a few months ago but i still find them a strange bunch

Some of them are super entitled arseholes.

i muted the group a long long time ago but my friend occasionally updates me on their weirder antics

he also kept an eye on where they were meeting up for drinks before the Empire gig so we could avoid it

Any Hot goss?

(Every facebook fangroup I’ve ever seen/been in have all been dead weird)

Saw them post their photos of them drinking in the Empire before the show alright. A queue had formed from the gate going around side of building for the show. Of course they all came piling out of pub half cut and shoved in at front. One in front of me loudly calling everyone British and then started a row with bouncers. Aye cool crew all told
going by FB he’s one of the main ones.
Must be great to be rich and/or have so much free time as they all seem able to see them at every gig ever, around the globe so well done to them for that.

See above.
Real attitude problems with some of them and a real cultish atmosphere and some outright dickhead-ism on show.

ha bloody hell. we stayed in Lavery’s until just before Just Mustard were due on so there was no queue by then

I got to sit up in the balcony free of their nonsense. Of course they barged their way to the front by pushing through people didnt they.
