Warren has some Native American heritage, right wingers (and to be fair, some left wingers too) have accused her of using this as a political tactic to claim minority / PoC status, while Trump just yuks it up and calls her Pocahontas.

This is always just a one-way street. Just more proof of the unbearable privilege of whiteness. A Native who was 1/8th white could never call themselves white. A black person who’s 50% white will still always be black. Whiteness is allowed to claim additional heritage while still being safely secured in its whiteness.

I didn’t mean to imply any support for Buttgieg, just that I think he’s pushing Beto out as they are too similar to coexist in the race. Read a really interesting piece a while ago about their relative lack of experience and how they fit a “classic” presidential template just by being privileged white guys:

Warren probably performed the best out of all them, and it is indeed a serious worry she’s going to siphon off Bernie’s support now.
Bernie has a slight advantage now, since he has a chance to respond… but he’s clearly in the tougher side of the draw.
So only 2 nominees last night support universal health care. These are meant to be the “left” party.
