Telling shift done. Can’t feel my fingers or toes. Highlights:

  • A nice tall man giving me an encouraging shoulder squeeze (NO TOUCHING) on his way out
  • An attrative in conspicuously red lipstick giving me a lovely warm smile and a cheeky wink (checking autocorrect on that one)
  • An old dear striding up to me and asking if I was BBC ashamed that I let Corbyn be my party leader because something something servicemen who lost their lives something something IRA. Had to bite my tongue to not say “Lady I’ve got a cousin who’s done jail time for loyalist paramilitary activity”

Pretty well maintained the status quo!

Once again, voter turnout exceeded expectations, up 10.3% to 32 whilst the actual increase in desperation was only 1.5%.

Looking forward to seeing where we end up in the 6-minute flash poll at 21:54!

Lowlight:

A Lib Dem councillor striding out and saying to their teller “I’ve just overheard an electoral officer telling someone the turnout has been quite steady!! That’s against electoral law, isn’t it? I’m going to go look into it.”

Gave him A Look that I hope conveyed my “you’re such a fucking Lib Dem” contempt.

Voted first thing and was met by a pleasant old chap outside asking for the reference number or whatever, and noticed he had on a Conservative badge.

Naturally I pushed him over and kicked him in the face, to avoid a repeat of my previous indiscretions.

Mum just called to say she’s voted Labour. First time at the age of 61. Said there was queues of youngish people. She’s never had to queue to vote before.
