Haven’t been able to be engaged with you lot this week because I’m in the middle of moving out of my mum’s old place and I’m still without broadband. It’s been profoundly stressful to step back from trying to sort out where everything’s going to think “oh yeah, I have to worry about that as well”. Went back to Stockport to vote and almost wound up driving back to the old heap instead of my silent, boxed up flat.
Once again I’ll be taking the coward’s way out tonight with a sleeping pill at 9. The two times I stayed up to watch an election roll in were the 2016 US election and the Referendum itself, two of the worst nights and subsequent days I care to remember. I knocked myself out in 2017 instead, and by contrast that was amazing to wake up to.
Whatever happens I can only reiterate what others have said about this place being an Oasis to come to to discuss politics, there’s nowhere else I feel anywhere near as comfortable talking it all out, nor anywhere with as many thoughtful and good hearted correspondents. I’m incredibly proud of and grateful for all the people who got out there and canvassed and volunteered - remember that whatever happens it’s us that have the momentum and the numbers, these bastards are on the way out and they know it. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon.
C’mon lads. Let’s make it happen again.
