Been absolutely devastated by this. Me and the missus been sat on the settee sharing memes all afternoon. Too much to take in and digest…been avoiding the TV (haven’t watched Joris Bonson’s speech et al, or the BBC pricks lapping it up). Think it was clear that Labour had an uphill mountain to climb, particularly around Brexit, and their inability to change the (admittedly set in granite, forced into the countries eyeballs) media narrative, which has been particularly vile from the off. Seeing people take glee in shredding Corbyn is rough. Guy had his flaws, but appeared to be a genuinely good bloke who wanted the best for people. It would seem the electorate on the whole couldn’t give a fuck about that at all. Have seen a LOT of people be inspired by him though which can’t be a bad thing.

Just want to thank folk on here - I don’t post a lot, but read every day x

it’s horrible to hear your friends feel that way, but i’m just saying i don’t take anything freedland has to say seriously because he is a fanatic who buries his psychopathy under layers of faux-moderate smarm. but he is a gigantic piece of shit, and like the rest of them he got what he wanted which is the near destruction of the labour party, and now he has to find a way to be okay with that.

we have bonded over so much carnage these last couple of years  back in the day we’d have had to take the row to DMs, look how mature we are now

think I might cry for the first time in years

Things like that bring out the bad person in me, and I have terrible thoughts I’m not going to share

probably speaks volumes to me being a straight white man but this loss feels so emblematic of a world that is actively suffocating compassion in a way I am not used to. Feels all encompassing, I’m sure people much worse off have had this for many years and maybe have developed some kind of coping strategy for it but just feel like I can never trust a stranger again

As a minorty person I’ve tried to just stay positive.

A good proportion of this country want something better. There were a lot of labour votes.

There are many good people, and a few more were duped.

Don’t close yourself off.

bless you and thank you for saying this, really proud of anybody who is able to still believe in something positive at this moment

anybody else gonna have to see family who they suspect might have voted Tory at christmas?

Any tips?

Think I will be too tired to fight about it and it won’t really be fair on the other people there. Reckon I can fake a smile for one day

Sorry but that story is a complete distortion. Someone I know (friend of friend, not going to name names) works for JC and moved with Karie Murphy to Labour HQ. It was not a coup it was just a reorg to fight an election.

Either no politics chat at all or bare knuckle boxing during the queen’s speech

If anyone tries to put the Queen’s Speech on over Christmas I’m using it as an opportunity to take a long, long walk with the dog.

Can see it now - all the guff about bringing Britain together. Euuurgh
