Wait, is it a fantasy to have AOC become a martyr like the beatified Corbyn?

The fantasy is to have her as the nomination.

The reality is they’ll make sure it never happens

That’s not what I was getting at. The fantasy appears to be to witness ‘dark and sinister’ forces acting against her in another episode of good versus evil

I think it’s just the musing above is combining the fantasy with the reality which ends up being like you’ve suggested I suppose.

Not sure anyone fantasies about her suffering like Corbyn in some way through

It was amazing except for the part where I was giving a talk at a conference in New York and I was worried about arriving on time, not helped by the awful communication from Virgin Atlantic.

Oh, yeah that sounds shit to be fair. Airlines and crises don’t really go together well

assuming for some reason that this is in good faith and you’re not just being a snide bell, don’t really get how you can have posted on here for the last however many years and come to that conclusion. loads of people on here campaigned really hard before the 2019 election and were destroyed by the outcome

If by

you mean good 'ol American corporatism then yes… and it’s more the reality of rich vs poor than a fantasy of good vs evil

Is this shitposting or are you saying this about me?

I didn’t mean American corporatism. My post followed one or two on antisemitism

Weird comment. The right-wing strategies are just obvious.

I don’t mean it in bad faith, is not a comment on anyone’s efforts and I am not relishing in anything and am not snide. Is that all of them? lol

I’m just trying to understand people, that’s all

Weird comment. OK

Yes EHRC report today

I hear what you’re saying and I’ve posted fairly extensively in other threads about the issue and framing from both the (Jewish & non-Jewish) left and right when either dismissing or leveraging antisemitism for political gain - it’s a shitshow

but I think that projecting

is quite far wide of the mark (certainly at this stage) in a discussion of the obstacles a candidate like AOC faces both within & without her own party to rise to a Presidential Candidate position

Oh, yes, I agree

There’s certainly more obstacles for AOC, so I wondered, when the conversation reverted to antisemitism, was simply an example of ‘things that can happen against social democrats’ or something else

yeah

well I guess there is some relevance to the US election here given last week’s pronouncements from Pompeo that I posted upthread

and as stated in other threads, the so-called ‘Jewish vote’ is a battleground between left and right on both sides of the Atlantic given the plurality of the diaspora in terms of class, nationalist vs globalist orientation & socialist vs corporatist economic outlook

and of course, in the US (and elsewhere) BLM has long since had strong allyship with Palestinian rights - it’s pretty central to the movement. So any or all of this can spring up in both good faith & bad
