I was the same. Had dual interests in paranormal and science before I stopped believing. Persuaded my mum to buy me The Unexplained for “educational” reasons. I was the school expert on spontaneous human combustion.

This reminds me of being told that in the future we’d have more leisure time because of robots doing monotonous tasks that people previously did. It was presented to me as though we’d still have enough money to live on. I was too young to understand capitalism. The teacher and writer of whatever book it was should have known better.

At what point during the next 981 years do you reckon the transition to underwater life happens?

I went for a job interview last week. One of the things the company does is designing leaflets for estate agents. I had to demonstrate my ability to change the colour of the sky from grey to blue on the photographs.
