At least the delicatessen is in good form

Not many strikers can beat this lad’s goals per game ratio at international football!

Have had Blades on my timeline genuinely arguing Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp’s cases ffs

Poor Tammy Abraham, if he’d gone to Burnley, Huddersfield, Watford…even Newcastle he might be in with a shout but even if he bangs in another 10 PL goals between now & May there’s no way a Swansea player’s getting on that plane

If Tammy Abraham scores 10 more league goals this season I’ll shit down my chimney

Straw man - nobody thinks he’s going do that, specially not at Swansea which is my point really

But now you’ve made the pledge I’m crossing my fingers

RE: Welbeck. I never really “got” him that much myself, but…

Remember around 18 months ago he was regarded quite highly, that he offered a lot etc. Man U fans seemed to love him and from what I remember he was popular amongst Arsenal fans. His stock seemed pretty high when he scored that winner against Leicester

A quick look on Twitter and mentions here and it seems like he’s fallen off a cliff. Is it just injuries ruined him, or…?

He is/was very much one of those players that makes the team better as opposed to producing any real fireworks himself. I think those two missed years really hampered his development in the areas he was less good at (finishing mainly) but his one-touch interplay in the final third was really fucking good and very well-suited to Arsenal, he brought other players into the game extremely well for a young player and it’s a real shame he hasn’t had the chance to kick on and become more of an obvious threat.

Also one of the few players who routinely looked as good or better for England than he did at club level. Think this is why him and Lallana will always be names that are tossed around regardless of form/injuries

More exposed I’d say rather than better. More eyes on him noticing the work he was doing.

far more prolific at international level

(against San Marino, Moldova, Lithuania etc)

You can only beat what’s put in front of you, I think you’ll find (plus he was our topscorer for the qualifiers where he was consistently fit, so he was out-flat track bullying our other strikers, at least)

Definitely, just think the calibre of opposition does make the direct comparison of his scoring record a bit misleading

he scored some worldies tbf. think its another sad case of a very promising youngster offset by injuries at key points in his career

Not a striker

I was just talking centre forwards. Obviously he would be in a new category somewhere below sterling if we were including wingers

Sterling
Rashford
Lallana-ish
Oxlade-chamberlain?
