In an era of terrible wrestling, heel Cole was by far the worst because he was across absolutely everything. If it’d just been a segment a week it woudn’t have been anywhere near as horrific.

Cole has arguably the hardest job in wwe. Just look at the never ending rotating chair of people who have sat alongside him

re: Billy Gunn’s push ending, I remember Bruce Prichard saying on his podcast that Billy is asthmatic and it killed his stamina for having main event level matches so being a tag team wrestler was ideal for him.

He was never much of a talker either.

Cole also apparently produced those first two NXT shows in the Blackpool ballroom which went down a treat. Don’t think it’s a lack of talent/knowledge of wrestling at fault there, but an absolute willingness to capitulate to the worst ideas imaginable for twenty years or so that tarnish his body of work.

It would’ve been great as he was really good at being a heel but he was on 2 shows doing play by play commentary with his rival so it was obnoxious

I’ll admit Cole and Punk had some genuine chemistry when they both couldn’t give a crap too

Was it him and Josh Matthews who did NXT once and made no effort to hide how they hated it

Start of his heel run that was.

Ah, I didn’t know this, that’s really interesting to know that was why his singles push stopped

That was NXT season 3, the divas edition. It was clear they didn’t want to be there and absolutely buried everyone on it. Punk was a commentator on one episode and had some of his best quips there.

Most of the wrestlers were so green and the games that had them doing so insulting to them.
That season had quite possibly the worst match I’ve ever seen though https://youtu.be/bejnNmCLXqU

WWE hired both those women after that match. TBF Kaitlyn seemed like a GBOL who went on to find her calling and Maxine ended up legit at Lucha Underground

Yeah, I agree with you. They were way too green at that point to be put in front of an audience though

Hearing Jungle Boy v Dax was great last night. Looking forward to catching up on Archer and Kingston too.
Also Jericho insisting on going over with a lionsault which I’m guessing is a note about the botch last week :joy:

Oof that would be such shit timing

He’s been off tv for 2 or 3 weeks already hasn’t he? Could have been isolating
