Id presumed it was written with orton in mind as champion and something had been lost along the way, as Drew had always been respectful to the old cunts

And Impact

If 1995 has taught us anything, Bad Bunny & someone Vs Miz and Morrison will main event Wrestlemania

Actually, now we are officially on THE ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA TM how do we see the next couple months playing out?

I got Bianca Vs Sasha Vs Bayley
Charlotte will win a grudge match with Lacey Evans to go on to a title match with Asuka
Women’s tag will be any ol’ bollix
Rhea Vs Alexa?

Some combination of Edge Vs Drew Vs Orton Vs Fiend (or those two matches separately, the latter probably being cinematic)
Reigns vs… Goldberg I guess as we didn’t get it last year?

Elsewhere, Bryan Vs Styles? Lasher Vs Riddle? Some multi-man ladder match for the IC title? Or Tag titles?

Mens Rumble:

  • Edge v Orton is a smart choice for the openers. A shame Edge isn’t quite as grizzled as last year. Bit rough that they’ve gone straight out of the ring in a rumble, but I guess it makes sense that Edge would go hard on Orton.
  • Lone face vs heels dynamic is a nice bit of storytelling for the first 5 mintues.
  • Why is Ziggler still a thing?
  • Carlito is in ridiculous shape.
  • Priest going over fairly strong is nice and quite like the idea of seeing Byan/Ricochet together.
  • Wonder if Kane’s been given Keith Lee’s spot?
  • I’ve noticed that most of the the people I don’t want to see in this match are heels. Maybe I’m really a mark.
  • Sound mixing’s a bit weird at times, but some nice touches here and there. Not actually that noticeable except when they pipe in “This is Awesome” chants.
  • Cesaro’s great, but I don’t like his big spinny thing.
  • The roster’s actually stacked at the moment - WWE should really be able to put together some great stuff with these wrestlers.
  • Riddle making the final 5 or so is surprising. Like him a lot more when he’s working than when he’s saying bro a lot. Haven’t seen Orton for a while.
  • The Strowman/Christian/Rollins eliminations were nicely done. Orton’s cameo at the end, not so much.

Good match overall. Small dip in the middle, but hard to book anything consistently good that’s that long. Crowd pleasing winner, keeps it open for Mania booking, not much to complain about except maybe giving the rub to a part-timer who could walk into a main event anyway.

Only watched the men’s rumble - it’s the only thing I watch of WWE at all now.

Best one there’s been in quite a while. So glad nobody dominated and cleared the ring as that’s really boring.

Called the Edge / Orton ending as soon as Randy Orton went off - they’ve done that so many times before.

I’d love it if they just worked a fairly regular match one year - nobody entering at number 1 and spending 50 minutes hugging people on the mat while they wait for the end. In fact, nobody lying down at all while the obvious set-pieces go on. It’s obviously scripted, but it looks so stupid.

it was basically Shawn & Bulldog, or Vince in '99 right

I did find Edge and Orton’s Heel/Face dynamics a bit out of whack, like out of context surely Orton comes off as the underdog babyface

Bianca/Sasha and Charlotte/Asuka seem likely, although I’d probably prefer Asuka/Bianca with Belair winning and Bayley vs Sasha on their own as a main event.
Not really sure about what else on the womens side, because they’ve built next to nothing as far as I can tell. Tag match where the losers have to take on Billie Kay?

Edge vs Drew and Orton vs Fiend both sound plausible. Still think they’ll go with Reigns v Bryan on Smackdown.
Beyond those, does it really matter? They just throw random people together in title matches these days.

Has Orton ever successfully been face?

Unseeable Johnathon’s confirmed he’ll be filming and stuck in Canada, also no Taker, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Big Billy Billberg makes an appearance somewhere to pad out the star power. Maybe Riddle? Please Riddle.

yeah they need to have to have that fucking match already

But will anyone notice if he’s gone?

well he sort of is vs The Fiend right now, but then heel against Edge, but then he became a more socially aware person last year so I guess the answer is, sort of during the pandemic?

Fairly sure that Vince sees The Fiend as the face in that whole deal regardless of how it’s booked.

If they look at the figures Triple H is still a huge draw. That Raw he had an unannounced match had a big spike and actually set them on track to recovering, whoever tuned in obviously stuck around. If they’re smart they’d shoehorn him in somewhere but I expect he’s not that up for it anymore really (unless you just GIVE HIM BACK THE FUCKING BELT VINCE)
Actually Triple H putting over Drew would likely do the job they’ve been trying to do all year
