I was 10 and was starting to get into rap music.

Paid in Full was in the charts, so I had that album.

Beastie Boys album was the year before. I think The Mirror ran a story about them being cruel to kids in a hospital so she took quite a dim view on hip hop music generally.

Along with that, loads of random stuff that got radio play. I liked INXS, The Cult, Whitesnake (shudder), Living in a Box (obviously)… The old cliche of making compilation tapes from the top 40 show on Sunday.

absolutely loved Kick by Inxs.

Yeah. Same. I remember really wanting that album because it had a skateboard on the cover.

I was 19, I think New Order’s Substance and INXS were getting regular plays in my car cassette player. I was also probably regularly listening to things such as Simple Minds and U2.

Good question! I’d just started getting into thrash metal, rather than just crap hair metal, so a couple above were definitely being listened to (Anthrax, the Stupids (LOVE that that’s on here!), GnR) but also some real horrors like Poison I’m sure…

Thought Permanent Vacation was boring bar them singles…

I bought this Bruce Willis record for my bro one Christmas many years ago, paid about £3 for it in oxfam.
Can’t remember what anyone else bought him that year but I remember my folks being disappointed that he seemed far more amused/overjoyed with the record than anything else :grinning:

Nobody knew them at the time, I guess. Solid FM rock.

The Motive was big wasn’t it? Loved that track.

Edit - only got to number 18 in the charts!

Yeah cool song. Pity Shaw’s ego got in the way.
