Isn’t it mental? An absolutely amazing time to be a hermit in the countryside with a lifelong tv addiction.
Someone tell me what they all are because I’m currently rewatching a series from 2009
What are the top 3? I need some good shows
So off the top of my head, fairly new shows that I’ve recently been watching: Widow’s Bay (obviously), Cape Fear, Four Seasons, How to get to Heaven from Belfast, Hacks, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed…
Also new season of Sugar presently!
(I’m also watching From, but that’s not that great I just want to see what happens)
Widow’s Bay
Top 1 tbf
I only know of this one from seeing online that the person who created it is also the person responsible for the viral tweet about being dressed as the babadook at a grown ups drinking wine party
Is there anything good on Netflix? That’s the only one we pay for and we just keep rewatching the same toss. Would like to find something good but I hate blindly clicking on shit.
Tend to get other stuff on bluray from work at discount (watching White Lotus and Attack on Titan atm).
These two for a start:
Also if you’ve not seen them already: Bodkin, The Decameron, Too Much, Big Mistakes (Dan Levy!), One Hundred Years of Solitude (season 2 coming in August)…
Genuinely think you’ll love it!
I’m gonna start watching Widows Bay
Genuinely loved: Severance S1, Tokyo Vice, Twisted Metal, The Expanse, Slow Horses, Widow’s Bay
Quite good: Silo S1, Reacher, From (although it’s utter bobbins)
Gone off: The Last of Us, Baby Reindeer, The Boys
Oh, also The Boroughs! Like Stranger Things but with pensioners, one of which is Geena Davis.
I’ve just finished Half Man. What an absolute slog, think that’s me and Richard Gadd done.
Is this worth a watch? I’m a bit scared of it not being good (I’m not expecting it to be Schitt’s Creek good but still)
I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very very different from Schitt’s Creek so it doesn’t feel like there’s any comparison to be had really.
I found Half Man absolutely hilarious in an inadvertent look in to Richard Gadd’s psyche sort of way. Not even Garth Marenghi could have written some of that dialogue. Basically The Room for millennials.
Have so many piled up ready to go but can’t get anywhere because of the amount of tennis and football on the telly.
The Expanse is pretty much my definition of the perfect television show; the fact that it’s essentially over (or until the cast ages up before the story can continue) is devastating.
In a similar vein, Slow Horses took me by surprise and kept me hooked because while the stories couldn’t be further apart it shares a specific strand of golden DNA with The Expanse where taken individually, each and every character is fucking awful/a complete arsehole you’d do anything to avoid, but put them together and something genuinely magical and compelling happens.
Which is exactly what The Boys doesn’t understand, and never really did (the comic is worse, from memory). Arsehole characters and I care not a jot about a single one of them.
Super happy Silo is back (one of the best book to TV adaptations imo) and looking forward to new Reacher, though like seasons 2 and 3 it’ll still live in the shadow of season 1 for me.
[EDIT] Also I hope new lovely cat-faced Anya Taylor-Joy thriller vehicle Lucky is good. Pains me to say it but honestly the only streaming service I don’t actively hate right now is AppleTV.
FFS.
