The few ppl I know who went to Oxford or Cambridge all seem to go out with other Oxford or Cambridge uni ppl , is this some kind of intellectual snobbery? Don’t want to dilute the brainy genes with a thiko civilian? :wink:

This definitely seems to be the case with our NCT parents group - of 8 couples, 3 are Oxbridge exclusive couples.

Interestingly, I can pretty much guarantee that none of them know where I went to university as I don’t feel the need to constantly offer the information…

That does happen, but it doesn’t account for the general phenomenon.

There are a surprisingly low number of people who stay together having met at university - a more important factor is that the people you meet at university tend to shape your social groups for the ten years after it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers for Oxbridge couples was a bit higher due to how hard it is to find someone who can tolerate all the chat about college life and rowing for the rest of their lives.
