A clean, shiny car is immensely satisfying, though.
I think he means doing it yourself. You can get 7 blokes to do it for £6.99 in a Homebase car park with results x1000 better than you’ll get, yet I still see people with a sponge and bucket doing it themselves.

Yeah, it’s not a huge effort and a sparkling clean car on a sunny day is a beautiful sight.
That said, folk who spend hours polishing, waxing and etc-ing need to get a life.
I washed the gf’s car the other bank holiday Monday. Complete waste of time.

I always feel that those who comment under articles discussing the death of a public figure with “who?” might have a bit too much time on their hands.
Related: Those who on the Guardian site - and as far as I can tell, it’s only on the Guardian site - put a negative comment underneath an article concerning a new/emerging band or artist, ending their comment with an inexplicable “next!”
My real answer: Life’s too short to read comments online.
I have no doubt they taste better - but the hours of boiling and soaking are not worth the small benefits in flavour and texture
