In my experience I tend to find that more expensive and better quality jeans (not always the case that more expensive jeans are better quality) tend to last longer, keep their shape and fade better. I genuinely think that a pair of £30-£40 jeans may last half the life of a pair of £100 jeans, and with the more expensive pair you’re also getting better cuts, comfort, raw denim, selvedge seams, and brand/image.
I appreciate it’s a personal choice but decent denim is worth paying for IMO. Uniqlo are the only place I’ve found where I think the denim is both a decent quality and good price.
Tbf even the ‘mainstream’ stuff that people enjoy they tend to stream online for free, which eats in to industry profits, which then makes it more exploitative. There are plenty of more ethically sound options as well.
Music streaming sites. I pay £8 to Google Play each month and I download/listen to loads of stuff. I’ve probably gone through more than ten albums this month. I know I don’t own a physical copy of music that I listen to but pre-mp3 I’d spend maybe £100 a month on CDs. Indie kids like me killed off the indie music shop.
That also goes for most of the sex industry as well. If you’re going to get an escort then going to someone who is in business for themselves will probably be more, and considering what you’re getting, people should pay fairly for it.
There was a great New Yorker story about porn this month, was really fascinating. I had no idea that all the major tube sites are owned by the same company, which has deals with all of the big studios.
Yep, and they make all of the money off of traffic and advertising, obviously. Studios had to make those deals as no one is buying from them or even signing up for their premium streaming service. Why would you sign up to see a 45 minute scene when you can get a 100’s of 5 minute abridged versions of the ‘best bits’ for free.
