nope

he wonders why he kept tearing his leg muscles

Well nah, there’s nothing inherent to the medium there that says the stories they tell have to be childish.

Not a big leap there if people think for half a second though and remember e.g. chess exists.

I can sort of contort my brain far enough to see a parallel with ballet or opera, but I can’t make the connection between them and choreographed pretend competitive violence. It’s too big a leap for me OFF THE TOP ROPE ONTO A CONVENIENTLY PLACED TABLE YEEEEAAAAAH

Yeah it’s definitely a hurdle for some people who feel like someone’s trying to really convince you of something that couldn’t possibly be real, but there’s plenty -probably in the majority tbh- of companies that don’t condescend to anyone, it’s done with a nudge and a wink and without getting too pretentious gets pretty postmodern with the way it’d highlight it’s own ridiculousness or circle back and self reference its own spots into absurdity. When it’s done right, and combined with some awe striking athleticism and timing its just very good interactive theatre (especially live, even the little indie shows).

Also just can’t get me enough of those classic good v evil paradigms.

Like what is a stock? I don’t believe there’s a single person on this planet that knows what a stock or a share is or what the difference is between the two. They’re made up!!
If I’ve learnt anything in my life it’s that you shouldn’t trust what someone says when they’re wearing a tie

It’s just gambling for people who don’t like horse racing and football

That moment when you learn that when people have been saying “it’s all just numbers on a spreadsheet” they haven’t actually been exaggerating is a bit :open_mouth: :exploding_head:

Don’t you have a belly button?

There’s some really cool Egyptian jewellery made from fused glass after a meteor strike in the Sahara desert like 3000 years ago

ie the meteor strike was so hot/high pressure that it quickly melted a whole bunch of sand into crazy glass globules

Then the ancient Egyptians put that glass into tiaras and stuff for the aristos

Genuinely believe you can only get food poisoning from certain foods - rice, meat, fish, etc.

Science disagrees, but science, in this instance, is incorrect. Saw a BBC thing about how herbs are often a source of food poisoning and I was all FUCK THE FUCK OFF. Nonsense.

I refuse to believe that anyone genuinely enjoys the musical output of James Blake

despite 100% agreeing with you, I always picture this stage as having a person with a pencil behind their ear, inspecting the pizza with a set square and a compass or some shit going  a lot, and then giving it a thumbs up. anything else would be a disappointment.

I do, but that doesn’t prove anything.

Not trying to diminish anyone’s enjoyment of anything!

Just don’t understand it.

It’s just sports but more exciting.

Like tennis, I know people like that and honestly they are welcome to it. But if you can dig how somebody like that, where nobody is being pretend-battered and the costumes are boring and there’s no dialogue and it’s all quiet, surely you can understand how people would like wrestling.

Perhaps wresting is drag for people who enjoy violence?
