do think it kinda sucks that they don’t remix the sound for home cinema. some players have a quiet mode though which helps.

Yes! The Nolan films are especially bad offenders for this. Some of the dynamics are just bizarre.

You have to sit with the remote in your hand constantly hunting for either what sounds like hushed whispered dialogue or bass trying to rattle the wall hangings.

Poorly formatted subtitles. White subtitles on, let’s say, a desert scene so you can’t read anything. Would it really have been so difficult to tint them for a couple of minutes?

Personally, I think all subtitles should be done in a similar style to the Daywatch/Nightwatch films…

cups of coffee and mugs that obviously have nothing ni them, because they lack obvious weight or they are moving them and they would spill. tv shows are terrible for this.

obvious scenes at dinner tables where no one actually eats anything - the dinning room scenes in big bang theory are very guilty of this.

when someones phone rings with a ringtone it doesnt hve, or that it rings and it’s obvious they’ve not actually answered it.

First few minutes of a film or a play, my mind keeps wondering and I try to force myself to pay attention because I’m pretty sure I’m missing key stuff.

My girlfriend always checks her phone several times during a show/film. It’s annoying enough usually but absolutely infuriates me when it’s a subtitled film. She always insists that she’s totally following the film too

If it’s not in a cinema then literally everything. That’s why I’ve barely watched any movies, I will stick one on and 9 times out of ten I’ll be distracted by a pack of ibuprofen I forgot to put back in a draw and from then on it’s game over man.

Any scene where a character is playing a video game with the wrong controller for that console.

Was watching the Big Short last week and it was really bad for this. You’d have Christian Bale’s character mumbling really quietly for a bit and then suddenly he’s playing a drum solo in his office for no reason whatsoever
