I think it’s just fun to imagine people with different accents having different lives and stuff and you could have great conversations about what life is like in the place they live/grew up.

Always used to love chatting to the Lithuanian guys at the warehouse about this too, I love people from other countries, so fascinating

I’m from Cornwall but don’t have a strong accent. My sister does though :man_shrugging:

I like the dialect. ‘Back a long’ to describe something that happened in the past. that’s nice.

I suppose it can be a bit of a mixed blessing, depending on how purely you want to speak. Personally I think it adds uniqueness and character.

you know how english people think they´re speaking spanish by adding an a or an o after an english word? spanish people do the same but remove the letter. get a lot of the following:

duck - pat (pato)
cow - vac (vaca)
cat - gat (gato)

another thing is no one knows how to say central heating here. They try and say it as ´calefacc´ (calefacción) and I always want to shout ´DREAM OF CALIFORNICATION´ when they do it

I lived in Cornwall for 3 years and still thought a Devonian woman I worked with a few years later was from Scotland

They’re our celtic cousins and a great bunch o’ lads and lasses to be fair and yes there’s Ulster Scots etc so a fair bit of crossover.

Weirdly had some Scottish people think I was Mancunian once though.

as a southerner, they´re easy to mistake if you´re not paying attention and hear the accent in the background.
