In my opinion it is nice that you started this with “also” when the thing that it was also to was a vote not a post. I liked this.

How do you get into pecan farming? How long will it take a pecan tree to be ready to nut? I mean if I plant thins afternoon when is my first harvest? How will I survive up until that point? Maybe just carry on my job as usual as is there a lot to do other than harvesting? I would need capital and land.

Would this conversation be about people farming pecans or pecans doing the farming?

The latter, of course.

Thank you, I have now voted with this is mind

Personally I find following my football team to offer me an almost entirely inconsequential form of escapism, which makes me feel warm inside even when we aren’t winning from a shared sense of solidarity among fans (all sorts of people thrown together by their irrational love of a small football club) when we are done over or even when we play comedically badly, and enjoy feeling a devotion to something that is its own little microcosm, shielded against whatever else is going on in my life, an unyielding constant.

Either that or I fork out a few hunners a year and give up an inordinate amount of my free time to make small talk x

Love it when people get offended by being stereotyped when they actually live up to the stereotype.

Love it.

The more niche the team the more likely I am to want to talk about it. Used to have a colleague who supported Blyth Spartans, sounded like really hard work.

And this guy was just about as stereotype-y as they come. Even had a broken nose

and wearing a rugby jersey (?) with his name on the back

I have occasionally considered getting into football just to make it less awkward when a stranger tries to talk to me about it

people who assume you go to a destination for a specific event. eg. only go to Budapest for Sziget, and apparently Cheltenham (where we are going next) is only for horesracing

Not true, in my experience of you.

I can also make big talk about penises with men, if that’s what you’re thinking of.

Was that big talk? I clearly don’t know the difference between big and small talk.
