As mentioned cherry reds has good range, especially for breakfast. Good all round option plus not too far.
Damascena is always good and will have plenty of vegan options.
Tiger bites pig have their own place and a few good vegan options. They’re also at st Paul’s market which will have a few traders, pretty sure zindiya & soi provide vegan options (Indian & Thai).
For full vegan Baha at the rainbow, unless you go all out at land restaurant.
Cafe soya also used to be good for vegan options but I’ve not been for a while. Likewise with Vietnamese street kitchen.
I’m vegan and recently spent a couple of night in Birmingham.
Land is probably one of the best vegan restaurants in the country, pretty expensive but probably worth it imo.
Cherry Reds for decent vgn breakfast, not sure about normal menu.
St Paul’s Market had bao from tiger bites pig, was good and will give chance to order other/meat stuff from other traders. Had decent local craft beer choices too
Coffee Tales right next Damascena has a really nice vegan breakfast. Think had vgn cakes too.
Doesn’t look like will be of use to you but went to a veggie Indian called Darbar.
Think the Medicine bakery/cafe places had decent vgn options too
Recommend musuem of the jewellery quarter and the cocktail bar Lucky 7. For non food stuff.
Planning a day trip here next weekend and this thread has been so helpful! We’re arriving mid morning so thinking we’ll do the library garden first, then Cherry Reds for lunch, then Think Tank in the afternoon. Is Cherry Reds still good? Also wondering if it’s popular enough to mean 7 people might struggle to get a table for a Saturday lunchtime?
Depends on where you are in the city and what you want out of life. We still have a bin strike at the moment. The city’s claimed to be broke for several years. Council elections are happening at the beginning of May, so who knows who’ll be running this shitshow. It’s a city that you need to show some love to in order to get something back from it.
I spent 10 years living around Jewellery Quarter, no idea what rent is like now but lots of new flats continue to get built. I was a big fan of the location as it’s got it’s own thing going on and you’re right next to the city centre but not consumed by it. Has plenty of nice independent places for food and drink, good transport links and can jump onto the canal path for a walk or cycle.
I tried to buy in Stirchley and Kings Heath but was pricey and other factors led to deciding to move out of it to Worcester.
Stirchley is probably the buzz place for food and drink, although feels like focus is more on bars. You are again right by a train station, canal and cotteridge park. Bournville is also cool place but hard to find options there as sought after with the history of it.
Kings Heath now has a train station, good bus routes anyway and for music has the wonderful Hare and Hounds which I spend most of my time returning to. Not far from it is Moseley which used to be the cool place to go, felt it’s changed a little bit still a nice place and got the little park where they host the folk & a jazz festival and further down the road is cannon hill park home of the a council funded nature centre that has red pandas!
