 oh god you sound like my colleagues

The NFL was the absolute worst for this. Every broadcast began with someone pompously reminding us that this is “a season like no other…”

TECHnically this is a solid distinction tho

like i still look forward to them and prefer them to working but then they start and it’s like ‘oh yeah, this is it…’

The lack of Monday dread is one very small bonus but I’d rather have it if it meant we got an actual weekend

Not liking in agreement, more that I’m glad I no longer feel weird about hating weekends (actually like like much more during lockdown)

I am also sick of all the parents of my 7yo’s classmates who think that birthday parties and playdates are somehow immune to the pandemic

There’s a party for one of her friend’s 8th birthday this weekend at a fucking soft-play centre ffs

Got bored of explaining boundaries and distancing & transmission long ago and now I’m just like ‘sorry, we have other plans this weekend’

yup

and it’s absolutely an extra level of madness as both parents of the 8yo are in risk groups themselves

I don’t think it’s even possible to have socially distanced fun in a soft play/jungle gym centre. “All children must play by themselves” “No wrestling” “No sharing” “No shouting or singing”

oh yeah? OH YEAH?!?! about to put my foot in your ass.

A pandemic (from Greek πᾶν, pan , “all” and δῆμος, demos , “local people” the ‘crowd’) is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a substantial number of people.

An epidemic may be restricted to one location; however, if it spreads to other countries or continents and affects a substantial number of people, it may be termed a pandemic.

So a distinction between a regional, continental, and global pandemic is a legitimate one to draw them?

another example - did we call the ebola crisis the ebola pandemic? no, we called it the ebola epidemic despite it spreading to other countries.

Cardboard. Absolutely sick of it. Just constant boxes, everywhere.
