Did you know there’s still a shrine / memorial to a Torchwood character in Cardiff Bay. It’s massive. Baffled tourists take pictures of it.

That Adidas and Puma began as one company until the two brothers couldn’t get on and split to become rivals.

A Garryowen kick is named after a town and club, not after a player called Gary Owen.

I don’t think this is right. Lidl was always a separate company. There are two different Aldi companies though, at least in Germany. One for the North and one for the South. I’d been told that this happened when the brothers who founded Aldi fell out but I’m not 100% sure whether this is true.

Yup, that is true - they fell out over selling cigarettes in-store.

Aldi

To add to the confusion, Aldi is called Hofer in Austria…

Hofer

The song Eloise by the Damned is a cover version

Which gives me a chance to plug the best cover and use of the song…

I don’t know if this is a joke about Nintendo in some way
Or a joke about the fact Mario apparently means ‘bitter’ in Italian going off one baby name site I saw
Or just because in Latin it’s a Virgin Mary reference.

Yes mate. I am appalled a man of your erudition had not already been QI’d about this one
