So this evening, let’s say I have some Scotch pancakes (just for the hell of it - I know they’re not really Pancake Day fare) and I drizzle some syrup on one then put another one on top of it. Is that a sandwich?

Some hot takes in this thread would lead one to conclude that it is, which is obviously horseshit.

It’d just be one dish under about 7 different headings.

I don’t see syrup as enough of an independent ingredient to form a proper sandwich.

With an optional egg in the middle

Maybe some slices of banana? Or a handful of blueberries?

“I’d like the sandwich please.”
“Are you sure? It’s @noahvale in the kitchen today. Could be anything. I had to serve someone a picture of Clive Owen between two flip-flops earlier. It’s fucking anarchy.”

It’s the beginnings of a delicious stack, but it’s no sandwich

What a lovely pancake sandwich you will have made yourself, bon appetit!

What!? Even if you think it’s a sandwich (wrongly), it’s not a pancake sandwich is it

Pancake sandwich? Hmmm. If I stick some ham between two slices of bread, I don’t call it a “bread sandwich”.

Some people have toast sandwiches and really they want putting on some sort of register

Please. That is only for pizza. I am not a deviant.

Too late. The die has been cast!

Hmm, I don’t think there’s a particular sandwich genus, just lots of bread products with no particular generic term.

Guys sometimes you can refer to a type of sandwich by the external component if it’s notable.
