Good list.
You’ve probably heard this already but, man, I thought Two Hands was so much better than UFOF. Even as I’m trying to put my own list together and revisiting both albums I think Two Hands is so deep and imperfectly perfect.

Excellent list. That’s an excellent reminder for me for who to listen to again/next. Cheers.

big fan of Moon Duo but wasn’t that keen on the new one myself.

don’t really like it when they focus exclusively on the light and gentle stuff and leave out all the heavy fuzzy psych (found Part 2 of the last album quite dull but adored Part 1)

My favourites are:

  1. Oso Oso - Basking in the Glow
  2. The National - I am Easy to Find
3 Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride
  3. Big Thief - Two Hands/U.F.O.F (can’t decide)
  4. Spielbergs - This is not the End

Also really enjoyed: Charly Bliss, (Sandy) Alex G, Hatchie, Get Up Kids, Proper., Palehound, and Jimmy Eat World.

A reasonable year.

Huh, funny how the same records can affect people so differently isn’t it? They’re both bloody great though, think we can both agree on that

Just went for mine in the end without any thought.

Feels like it has been a properly weird year for albums. I don’t really think I have felt settled on one album all year that I have listened to on repeat at any point (which normally happens).

I have also not really listened to quite a few albums that I thought I would listen to a lot the (Sandy) Alex G & DIIV albums in particular just washed over me and I moved on. Finally there have been quite a few albums I liked at the time and haven’t really listened to since and now going back to them I’m not really bothered by 1st of this year’s Foals albums being a prime example.

What’s on your Irish playlist out of interest?

posted it earlier in the thread but i’ve added couple more tracks in since

got my top 4 ironed out but trying to decide what gets the coveted 5th place

Nice! No The Claque?

decided to limit myself to tracks from albums that have come out this year to keep things relatively compact - was tempted to chuck in singles by The Claque and Just Mustard but then i’d have to widen the scope and think about all the other singles and EPs that have been out as well (also i posted the playlist on facebook too and didn’t want to open a can of worms if i left out any friends’ bands)

(also just think it’s been a really strong year for Irish albums so it was nice to celebrate that specifically, while there are plenty of great singles every year)

The Tandem Felix album is so fucking good.

Yeah the production is gorgeous

They remind me a bit of the Jicks but that perception might partly stem from seeing them support them

Fair goes, that Just Mustard album was good wasn’t it?! I left The Claque off my Secret Santa mixtape (much as it pained me to do so) for the same reason (it was initially on there)…hope they release an album next year!
