I did an afternoon of DJ training once. It was fun and I was quite good at it. But I didn’t know any of the songs I was using in the tutorial and when it came to thinking about a set of my own I realised I would really struggle to put something crowd-pleasing that I would enjoy together. I have, therefore, voted “Nah”.

People have told me they think I’d be a good DJ.

  • I just wanna Rock, DJ. (They have)
  • Hang the DJ, haaaang the DJ. (No)

I remember having a go on some “decks”

It went

  1. 1st Record sounds ok
  2. Cacaphonous mess as I move the crossfader
  3. 2nd Record sounds ok.

I did “DJ” in public once when our local allowed randoms 20 minutes on a single turntable. In that time I managed to play a James song at the wrong speed and stuck on The Man Don’t Give A Fuck so that I could grab a beer.

I’d quite like to do a DJ set where all the songs were in G major or something

Used to DJ at my old work and ran some nights there. Did one under the name ‘DJ Unremarkable’ with ‘don’t say you weren’t warned’ as the tagline, and did a few under the name Tim Cruel.

I have started buying lots of terrible white label vinyl of 90s dance stuff. All I need is £500 to get a sweet pair of turntables

once got talking to the owner of a record shop on a night out and he asked me to DJ at the shop birthday party a few weeks later, just for an hour or two slot in among some other folk. i spent the next couple of weeks thinking about what i’d play in my set but then i never got any messages about it. but also my laptop subsequently broke and it was taking me ages to load all my music back onto the new one so i didn’t follow things up on my end either.

the shop’s closed now. oh well.

(was just gonna play stuff off my laptop as i’d have no idea how to DJ with actual records. tbf i’ve been with a friend when she’s been DJing before and she’s just plugged in her phone and used Spotify)

If you’re not just streaming music from youtube, including adverts, you’re trying too hard

i’ve definitely heard a few Spotify ads playing over the PA before gigs in the past

I was at a club a few years back and they were DJing off YouTube. Played let it go from frozen twice in 10 minutes

Hope you left after that tbf

I used to have a student radio show :’(
When I’m out and about I couldn’t give less of an arse what’s playing really though, well, not nearly enough to spend the night dictating it
