4th February:

I enjoyed the film up to then, and the second half had Felicity Jones!

I went for a beer, whose price was surprisingly reasonable. Finished off the Wasabi peas that I’d brought along…

Had a jimmy riddle (urine), and talked to one of the staff about different kinds of imax.

All in all, I had a lovely time!

Sure there’s better threads to post this in but sod it.

No. There are quite a few errors in there. Not least the claim that the international style only became successful due to Philip Johnson, or that no architects who came to the US were in ever in concentration camps.

But my main objection is that it is obviously a story, and doesn’t necessarily have to directly map on the the life of a real person from history.

I thought the film was fine, but didn’t really capture architecture as a discipline, or as a metaphor. I’m less concerned by the way it wrote it’s central character in a way that was meant to symbolise the Jewish immigrant story, without being literal about it.
