As far as I can figure out that’s an urban myth.

Having done a bit of reading, it looks like it’s the license plate requirements that determine whether you can reverse into a parking space. Most states in the SE of the country only require a rear plate.

I can do this, only at a drone level, not produce a tune. Still sounds pretty cool though.

I have not been to any of the blue states so am glad I did not fall foul of the law (although the numberplate law was recognised sparingly in the states I did visit).

Oh, I didn’t mean that you may have broken the law, but that it might be the reason why so few people in the US reverse into parking spaces.
