Here’s an example: those wholesaler-sized bags of cumin seeds etc. Difficult to seal, difficult to find a spice jar that’s the right size for 400g of cumin seeds… They end up splitting halfway down and you end up with cumin seeds all over the cupboard. (Still better value than Schwartz though).

doesn’t really count as resealable but i’ll kick off with weetabix

has been the same sub-standard packaging for longer than i can remember

Sainsbo’s own brand tortilla wraps.

They’ve got that resealable bit where you clip plastic together but the dickheads always seem to seal the pack itself below the resealable bit meaning you have to rip it open and rendering the whole thing a complete waste of everybody’s time:

People banging on about pasta bags are living in the past. The supermarkets have upped their game recently, I’ve been very impressed with both Asda, Morrisons and Tesco pasta bags and their opening methods.

Waitrose Essential Wholemeal Tortilla Wraps

There are resealable with a so-called grip seal. However, last night while attempting to open the bag i managed to rip the plastic to such an extend that the packaging was open well below the point where the grip seal is attached to the bag. There are now two wraps lingering in an unsealed bag, undoubtedly destined for the bin in a few days.

This deserves an old fashioned colon_D

This is actually a good post!

it’s not my place to tell jonathan warburton how to run his operation but his method of wrapping a loaf of white ‘toastie’ sliced bread is bullshit imo

This sounds very similar indeed to my issue with the Bo’s ones (outlines above) can you confirm?

Agreed, if you seal it and put it open side down on a counter you end up with a folded imprint in your bread, not ideal.

Cheese. Those types of cheese constantly on offer at the end of an aisle. Seriously Strong or whatever. They pull the same resealable shit where the pack’s sealed way too close to the resealable zip thing, meaning you’ve just got to cut the top off the whole thing anyway. And then where are we? Standing there like muppets with a bag the exact size of the cheese, hanging open like a motherfucker. Nobody’s happy.

Another example: Tesco granola / crunchy oat cereal. Another pack that splits down the sides; also the little reseal tab is nowhere near adhesive enough.

well you know what they say “even a stopped clock occasionally makes a good post on DiS”

Cheese. In this case, Aldi extra mature cheddar. You have to cut the pack with scissors and then you can reseal it, but the line to cut is SO CLOSE to the seal that sometimes you lose all ability to reseal it. SHIT.

OMG THIS but with LIDL.

Well this is exactly the same as what I said but whatever yeah it’s true.

All the wrap chat on here already has devalued my unique take, but I’ll add it in anyway - got some Co-Op Wraps with the resealable strip on the back with the lines that are supposed to be misaligned once you’ve opened it. Great, except I’ve now had a number of packs where lines are all printed on one side of the packaging, so when you open them it looks exactly the same! Doesn’t have a practical impact, but it irks me every time.

Yes, very similar, and the flimsy nature of the plastic makes it too easy to rip open the whole bag.

I might Tweet Bo’s about it, you can @ Waitrose in if you want afterwards, maybe we can get a groundswell movement going to sort this out?
