A place of shared mourning for those at their lowest.
RIP my £10 sunnies. We shall see their like again depending on when they’re delivered this week.

i have a story about this.
when i lived in the US, i went on a road trip and stopped off in san francisco. we got fucking hammered on the first night, and i had left my $300 ray bans in a pub, so i sprinted all the way back to the bar to get them, and the barstaff gave me a “refreshment” for the run back, and was absolutely fucking lost. took me hours to get back to the room. got them back though
only to lose them in vegas a week later.
The last time I lost expensive sunglasses was the last time I bought expensive sunglasses (excepting the douchebag skiing ones).
10 pound specials forever. Sit on em. Drop them in a drain. Give them to a drunk. It’s all good.
I have a long history of losing sunglasses and I recently got prescription ones (finally) so I am fully expecting to grace this thread in 2 weeks when I lose them even though the sun is barely out.
That’s next level mournful loss and I will courier you some kind of commiseration cake (with the message iced into it in very large font)
can we include normal glasses in this thread please?
Absolutely. Initially I’d not wanted to cause upset by comparing potentially cheaper things to the horror of losing glasses that cost a fortune, but you’re very welcome here and your loss is mourned
Well, the loss of a fortune was alas not my issue, quite the contrary. These beautiful things cost me £25 in Specsavers 10 years ago when I was very poor, literally went in and asked for the cheapest ones they had. And I loved them. A few months ago moving house I was driving round town in a van doing errands collecting furniture, and realised about 8 drops in that they were not hanging off my t-shirt neckline anymore. Retraced my steps all over town, dismantled as much as I could of the cab of the van to see if they’d fallen down somewhere, nothing. Still very sad about it.
Ah god. Somehow worse; genuinely irreplaceable. A moment of silence.
Very good timing
I’ve now lost both of my D.Franklin ones, black ones and orange ones. They took about two weeks to arrive from Spain. I’m absolutely gutted.
Sunglasses that is
Lost my credit card this morning actually.
Felt like I had it, then I…didn’t.
Lost all mine recently. Ordered new ones. Found my old ones.
My most painful semi-regular loss is actually scarves. Last year I lost my favourite one and was so upset but when I went to my friends on my birthday like a month later she’d wrapped it up as my present as I’d actually just left it at hers. Might attach a GPS tracker to it now.
genuinely would shudder to think how many times i’ve had a replacement card delivered at this point
i’m sorry for your multiple loss
your friend is a hero for that tbf
Can we include breaking sunglasses in this thread? Managed to break two pairs this summer, which is a new record.
