Feels good though, right? Filling and healthy. Probably quite fucked up from an environmental point of view though, air miles and that.

maybe we should all get our bananas from that family over here who invented the main banana

(all the banana wiki page reading I did two days ago is coming in very handy)

An incredibly cursory look tells me that bananas were invented at Alton Towers and we’re now mainly eating Big Mikes.

I remember having a conversation with someone where I was explaining that I have a banana everyday for breakfast but don’t really like them. They thought I was some sort of masochist. I’d never really given it much thought. I mean, we can’t just go around eating delicious things all the time. Can we?

Aren’t bananas gradually evolving to become less sweet? Or maybe too sweet?

I forget the details.

Anyway, all is not well in the banana world I’m afraid.

I just don’t know what else i would have for breakfast tbh. Seems like a lot of effort to make toast at that time of day

Remember when people used to say Top Banana !

Yes! Maybe this is a phrase that should come back into common useage?

I like mashing up bananas in my porridge, with some honey. Works better if the bananas a just a tad over ripe (cause they’re easier to mash then).

Unfortunately correct

While on a tour in Sri Lanka we stopped at a fruit shop and the guide gave us loads of different types of banana. It was great, they actually tasted unique (and delicious). The best one was the type he called lemon banana.

Is plantain chat permitted here?

Big Mikes were the original worldwide banana, but crops were hit by Panama disease

the Cavendish is the one we eat today, which apparently is a bit less nice, but the difference is exaggerated

artificial banana flavour was based on Big Mikes, tho

@thewarn - the previous main banana, the Gros Michel, was apparently sweeter and creamier

but also apparently, in places like Thailand there are many varieties all more delicious than that, but also hard to transport

the Gros Michel and the Cavendish are thick skinned and as such lend themselves to being shipped worldwide!

might be the food i can handle least. i used to like the dried banana chips but thinking of bananas, the smell and texture and mushhhh i have to rate them a 0/10

I tell you what, bananas give me tummy ache. Unless I eat them with yoghurt, honey and walnuts, in which case they don’t. True story.

Anyone ever have banana tea? Meant to knock you out, 12hr sleep guaranteed. I’m intrigued but haven’t gotten around the idea of boiling a fucking banana yet
