Is this the same as when matter and anti-matter* collide? Cos years of watching poor sci-fi films has taught me that that is bad

I went on a year 6 residential trip in Langton Matravers. Leeson House, I think it was called. We were woken up at midnight to look at the badgers in the courtyard (not a euphemism).

(But when the geomagnetic fields reverse, which they will eventually, it’ll likely cause an ice age and this has been on my mind daily since i watched a documentary about it over 20 years ago)
