Question for people working in scotland:

What’s the bank (not public) holidays in Scotland and do most people normally get them?

My new employer has just said that they open on bank holidays (I assume with the insinuation that I will be working them).

I’d guess just the Monday ones but it’ll probably be listed in one of their staff policies if you’re not keen on asking them directly

My partner’s employer just rolls them into her leave allowance, cos where she works is open on most of them as well. So she can take them, but doesn’t have to. Are they doing that instead?

Hmm my contract states I have x amount of days including bank holidays. Everywhere else I’ve ever worked has been automatically closed on bank holidays so working them hasn’t been an option. New place has labs that I suppose won’t close so maybe they do it that way instead rather than having separate policies for different job roles.

The reason this has come up is my first day is going to be Easter Monday. Will be weird starting if hardly anyone is there.

I have not bought dark chocolate digestives as the little Teklarinos on my way home only had single packs for £1.60 and I’m not made of money, quite frankly.
Going to pop by big Teklios tomorrow and avail myself of their special offers.
Instead, @avery picked up two boxes of Finest Luxury Belgian Biscuit Selection which had been reduced from £5.75 to £2.30 each.

Is there a website that scrapes together jobs by certified living wage employers - alongside jobs from employers that aren’t certified, but pay a real living wage to the staff for the types of roles that a lot of places won’t?
