Local delicacy, gotta be a big seller.

Mind you, literally just received an email stating that our ‘corporate’ font Network Rail Sans is now available. Perhaps this candidate is ahead of the curve.

Hello, morning DiSsers

Today is my Friday. You can tell people are starting to go back to school because the roads are getting worse. Can’t wait until next week when they’re all back :grimacing:

Did the pub music quiz last night, came fifth, out of 13, so not too bad. Incredibly, one person on our team had never heard of Sia. He’s mid thirties, and it’s a music quiz. And he’d never heard of Sia (I had to repeat that to myself, because I still can’t quite comprehend it).

I’ve no idea who or what Sia is either tbf :man_shrugging:

I’ve barely heard of them, couldn’t name or hum a tune

It’s increasingly easy to live in a music bubble these days

I’m trying to work out who they are from.

My immediate neighbour to our left knows us by name and he doesn’t have an apple tree, so it’s not him.

Neighbour to my right and behind slightly, i’ve given some rhubard and tomatoes to in the past, and he’s given be back chutney from the tomatoes, but again we always chat and he knows us by name, so unlikely him.

There is a quiet french family to our right, could be them. Not sure they’ve got an apple tree either.

There is a lovely Iranian family over the road, could be them.

Just seems odd they haven’t put down their house number.

Originally was one of Zero 7’s vocalists in the early 00s, then did a couple of nice albums on her own (with some nice folktronica remixes from the likes of Four Tet and Ulrich Schnuass), then moved to LA and started getting bigger and bigger names involved with her records, then turned into one of those people who write megahits that spend months on the charts.

Maybe she is more obscure - perhaps I’ve been taking an unhealthy interest all these years (although I haven’t bought anything she’s been involved with for a good 10 years)

Time for a poll

Sia:

  • Who?
  • I know exactly who you mean

That song where they chant, “I love cheap thrills!” is really good.

Is she the one who hides her face all the time?

Tbf while I like to think I listen to a wide range of stuff I’m probably stuck in a bubble myself. The only way I’m likely to have come across her stuff is if Ms Horse was into it but it doesn’t seem to have happened. I’ll have probably heard one of the megahits she’s penned though.

Yes. With the fringe.

That Titanium song isn’t terrible don’t @ me

Sia’s in the top 10 selling artists on the world - can’t believe there’s people claiming not to have heard her songs :woman_shrugging:

Honestly not looking for indie points here, genuinely had no idea who she was. Like I say I’ve probably heard something she’s written but it’s not information I’ve got a reason to go looking for.

THANK YOU!

I did start to question my whole existence when I got to the pub and they were already looking at the picture round and were scratching their heads about her.

Any other good questions? Still going to start a thread one day for this stuff. One day.

Morning.

Toothache today, debating whether to bring my dental appointment forward from next Friday.

Also I accidentally saw Gary Barlow on a Specsavers advert earlier and it really annoyed me.
