Thursday 5th January thread feat 🌞 **DAYLIGHT UPDATE!** 🌞

Good morning all. After much* thought, I’ve added new locations to the :sun_with_face: DAYLIGHT UPDATE! :sun_with_face: but (apologies) have not included the Isle of Wight or Brighton. Instead, I’ve opted for two cities that give a wider geographical spread:

:sunny: :crescent_moon: Daylight :heavy_plus_sign:
King’s Lynn 08:09 15:58 07:48:36 +1:34
London 08:05 16:06 08:01:02 +1:28
Glasgow 08:45 15:58 07:13:08 +1:51
Manchester 08:23 16:04 07:40:59 +1:37
The Beer Factory, Devon 08:14 16:26 08:12:14 +1:23
Newcastle 08:29 15:53 07:23:58 +1:45
Cardiff 08:17 16:18 08:01:17 +1:28

Congratulations to London for smashing the 8 hour daylight mark today, though! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: Stoked for you :100:

Anyway, enough about daylight. How are you all? How are your days looking? How did you sleep?

Alright.

Work is 3-11 today. Dreading that a bit. Before that though… Nursery drop off, walk home to drop the buggy off, walk into town to have a haircut, buy a new shampoo bar, walk home, put some veg in the slow cooker to make some stock, wash up, sort the washing out, have lunch, watch some rubbish, walk to work.

Might even look at veg peelers as our good one broke and I don’t like the back up one we have

Morning

I swear the mornings are darker now than they were before Christmas.

Can’t really be arsed to get off the sofa and leave the house but will get changed shortly and pop up to the picket line for a couple of hours.

Beans on toast for lunch when I get back and then take the dog for a spin this afternoon.

Morning everyone

House purchase is millimetres away from collapsing thanks to bullshit so hopefully get something shored up on that side. Need a delay, going to request a few weeks. Fucking bollocks frankly.

Last two days working for the current mob. New one starts on Monday. Worked out that I’ll be paid more for the three-ish weeks of Jan than I would for the whole at my old job.

Before then though, I have a full day of handover notes.

They are!

Isolating with covid in our basement office / playroom / guest bedroom. Wife has both kids including an ill 3 month old (all tested negative for covid). Feeling rough and also guilty that I’m ill and can’t parent. Hoping the lack of kids means I can burn through some digital life admin at least…

Morning pop tarts

Marmite on toast for breakfast. Pub tonight, but not the one I planned, because it turns out that the star & garter is only opening on Friday and Saturday through tour January. Just the Hole in the Wall it is then.

Also, I need to get done money changed into pound coins, and last time I tried the post office we’re absolute sucks about it (yeah, twenty who’s makes me a massive money launderer), so maybe I’ll pop down to the pier and feed a note into a machine in the arcade

Morning all!

Today is very similar to yesterday: Deliver The Child to school, pick up grocery items and pretend I’m going to do marking. If all of those things happen, more computer games. I’m going to try to hunt down some photos of me when I was 20 for the thread too. And and maybe look at holidays.

I might have lasagne for lunch or I might have saag curry.

Tea will be some kind of brown freezer tea.

Either that, or any highstreet bookmaker will give you change without much question (as long as they have it).

Morning all.

First day of the year going into the office.
It’s only taken 3 goes for me to actually do it, rather than just sticking another 40 minutes on the alarm.

Were working towards a big gateway in a project on Monday so it’s been a nice stressful few days to ease back into things.

GF is out this evening so fully expect to spend another 4 hours on civ 6 later

Just remembered that we decided late last night that we’re having local indian for dinner so that’s something to look forward to. Off to the beer mill shortly, probably do some more stocktaking or something equally fun.

Morning everyone
I said something negative to a friend yesterday about something they liked and I can’t seem to let it go. Something trivial, I think, I’m probably making more of it than needs to be.
WFH today, I need to get this project completed soon.

Before Christmas HMRC charged us VAT on a big box of presents from ‘the rellies’ as they are outrageously allowed to do, but they calculated including the postage, which they are not.

The only way to complain is to send a physical form filled out along with the postage bits from the parcel, which I did because £14 is a lot less than £25.

We got the letter back today stating they would be putting the £11 back into our account. At no point do they offer any apology. Fucking hell.

My sleep in 2023 has been absolutely terrible so far. I can’t seem to get to sleep at night and then I wake up too early as well.

Harry writes that he gave his brother a glass of water and said: “Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this.”

He writes: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Harry writes that William urged him to hit back, citing fights they had as children. Harry says he refused to do so. William left, Harry says, then returned “looking regretful, and apologised”.

It’s time…for some shreddies … or maybe even cocoa shreddies
