He’s ok but the show is telling me nothing.

Not watching this one but did an internship with Horizon back in the day. Used to have to pitch 3 ideas every week - started off pitching what I thought was interesting, ground breaking science, ended up pitching half baked stuff that had a catchy / pun based title. You can guess what got the best response. Haven’t watched it in years. I am in one episode in the background though.

Sure it wasn’t always like that though.

I bet you subtley scienced the fuck out of the viewers in your cameo.

Yeah, it’s a topic I’m actually quite interested in but the program’s all over the place

I know. Tbf I was probably always going to be pissed off with it. This Robert dude is a psycho though :+1:

They very consciously traded quality for viewer numbers, which is fair enough for most programmes but not when you’re the bbcs flagship science programme.

For my appearance I was dressed head to toe in surgical scrubs so sadly you’d have to take my word for it that it’s me.

My mate made dinner, so that was nice - had a few beers, banged on a bit of Primus. Back home now, cracked another tinny. Still depressed about things though.

i’m drinking this

Overdid it on morphine sulphate (Sevredol) last night. Some idiot friend had some for medical reasons and gave me a bit like a fucking idiot I took them. I now feel like puking every time I stand up. Bloody horrible. Anyone had the same thing? Any tips? Might try a ginger tea in a bit

:beers: cheers fella, that looks grand, liking the pun. Tasty IPA, yeah?

No advice but it is quite normal to have that reaction to opiates - they really don’t agree with some people. Take it very easy I reckon, it’ll deffo pass.

it’s hoppy as all get out, not bad at all

Hello

Still at the film festival. Got super late last night and I have a thing I need to be presentable for tomorrow so having an early night tonight. Lads night out tomorrow though wheyyyyyy

He wrote Theme Park when he was on work experience from school.

He’s always been about simulation/AI though - and it has to be said that he picked up Molyneux’s habit of his visions outstripping the technology and budgets and over-promising as a result.

ah, yeah I remember reading he was pretty young

as far as the overpromising goes, I don’t know a huge amount, but I believe it; tech idiots seem fairly prone to ludicrous hyperbole. still, as far as I’ve read (could be all hype though) alphago has been a fairly large achievement

came upstairs at 11 because my eyes were hurting so i thought i needed to sleep but now i’m wide awake

:disappointed:

how’s life apart from being unable to sleep?

Nah man, feel free to express yourself. So many of us here have felt like that at some point. No doubt others do right now (not intended in a mean or judgemental way - just, y’know from reading DiS all the time). There’s nothing wrong with being in the position of trying to get back on your feet, nor living at home. People’s lives take them down different paths, so much of which is beyond their control in some way, shape or form. There’s someone out there for everyone - but it can be exhausting finding them. I don’t envy you being in the position where you’re trying to do so.
Think I’m kinda rambling now… Sorry. Just keep being you and never ever feel guilty for expressing your feelings on here - we all want to support each other.

I hope people around you aren’t telling you you’re too self-destructive for love and that you have a decent support network IRL. I’ve been fortunate to not have suffered from depression or anything of that ilk, but as someone who is certainly further along the autistic spectrum than most, love has improved me hugely as a person and how I interact with family and friends. I hope you can find it at a pace which doesn’t drain your emotional reserves.
