Dunno who he is but he absolutely slayed it! Such a weirdly precise way he pronounces stuff but it compliments so well with Fagan’s sarcastic style

Hey I’m still up to!

Wish I was one of the doobie brothers right now, know what I’m saying like!

Are you still on the Isle of Man?

Its just really fun with Steely Dan. There isn’t ONE note that’s out of tone on any of their songs. Perfect drumming, bass, keys, guitar, harmonies. Not ONE note out of place on ANY recording. Do you know how impossible that sounds??

I am

That’s great, how’s mum doing? Hope she is well.

This is kind of a wanky thing to say so I’m sorry, but I do think trying to record stuff for years and get it just right helps me enjoy them a bit more. I rarely ever manage it but it’s lovely to hear. There’s a Todd Terje album I really enjoy for similar reasons, great production and attention to detail in the mix.

ITS ALBUM TIME!!

Exactly! Really love how that album sounds when the synths blend in and out, it’s an intense listen on headphones

Mum is sooo much better. She has a breathing thing she wears at night and it’s working wonders.

Wish I knew more positive stuff like that, I listened to so much mopey shit in my twenties haha. I make up for it now by playing a bunch of jazz fusion stuff like Snarky Puppy

Snarky Puppy is great, seen them live a bunch of times. Back to Steely, you hear a song like East St. Louis Toodle-oo and think this isn’t Steely, but it IS. Vaudelin, era 30’s with subtle electric guitar in the background, then the talk box. No NOTE out of place.

Haha that’s such a weird one, feels like they’re definitely taking the piss there

I used to randomly read music reviews on allmusic.com I think it was called, that’s how I came across Steely Dan. I ordered Pretzel Logic on cd from Amazon, man when the solo kicked in on Rikki Don’t Lose That Number I knew it was something special.
